Natural and Pure in Content: Organic Aromatherapy Oil

Understanding the True Meaning of Organic

Do we really understand the meaning of organic aromatherapy oils or is there a misconception going around about what ingredients can and should be used in making organic oils? The commonly understood notion about organics is that it is not made of synthetic materials, rather from just natural plant oils. However, there is a wider meaning to the term which means that only materials that occur naturally such as those used to produce fruits, vegetables or even aromatherapy oils are considered to be organic materials.

Another common notion is that since organic aromatherapy oils are consumed externally and so cannot be considered to be a food, it may lead one to conclude that it need not conform to the same general guidelines regarding organic food products. This is not the case, because organic aromatherapy oil is not considered organic and containing organic materials if it does not contain at least 70 percent non-water or non-salt agricultural content in its weight. The reason behind this is that it helps to ensure that the organic aromatherapy oil is made out of environment friendly materials and that there is little or no toxin content in it.

When purchasing organic aromatherapy oils, the above mentioned methods can be used for assessing that the products conform to these established standards. Speaking of which, there are some standards that have been set by Soil Association Standards for Organic Farming and Regulation (EEC) that are the benchmark for evaluating organic oils. Only products that conform to the standards set by Soil Association Standards for Organic Farming and Regulation (EEC) will be given a license number to prove that it does in fact, conform to these standards. Since the license number is renewed each year, make sure that the product is not more than two years old.

The recent surge of interest in organic foods seems to have rubbed off on people wanting to use organic aromatherapy oils and demand has reached the same level as for organic foods. This should bring joy to users of organic aromatherapy oils because the energy and aromas of these oils as well as their benefits to the user depend to a great degree on their purity content. This does not mean that obtaining purity is easy to achieve because producing pure organic essential oils is a time consuming and a risky venture that at present, is being done by just a few small family enterprises. But, once the slow distillation at low temperatures has been achieved, it will produce organic oils that have special aromatic and therapeutic effects.
