Eyebrow Tweezing

People have been known to remove unwanted hair for thousands of years. Archeological digs show evidence of flint razors dating back to 30,000 B.C. Like clothing, the fashions for hair removal have changed over the centuries. With temperatures rising and summer-baring fashions just around the corner, now it is a good time to look at the current hair removal methods. If you have fallen into a "rut" with this part of your life, it's probably time to determine if what you're currently doing is still the best solution for you. Eyebrows Tweezing or eyebrows waxing are good methods to remove unruly hairs or any hair between brows. One should follow their natural brow shape instead of the latest trends-brows as they tend to re-grow slowly or sometimes, not at all.

  • One should avoid using Alpha Hydroxy skin care products for at least a week before having brows done. These peel the skin, as does waxing. You should give your skin a break between the treatments. You should make sure the technician you go to knows what she's doing. Ask about their training and experience if you're using them for the first time.
  • Do not allow the technician to apply heavy creams to the skin right after waxing, particularly if you're prone to breakouts. In order to calm the pain and irritation, use a baby teething pain remedy like Oragel.
  • In order to minimize the pain, numb the eyebrow area first either with a baby's teething pain preparation or numbing toothache preparation or even a little ice.
  • The hair can be softened up first with a hair conditioner or shaving cream.
  • You should steam your eyebrows with a hot washcloth for five minutes or tweeze right after a hot shower to open the pores so the hair comes out more easily.
  • One should invest in a professional pair of tweezers so you have a clean, sharp pair each time. If you are serious about tweezing, buying a good quality pair is very essential. Use of natural light should be given priority.

Shaping:

  • First one should thin the eyebrow and then slowly define the arch. The arch should reach the highest point above the mid portion of the iris.
  • In order to determine where the eyebrows should begin and end, hold a pencil vertically against the nose. Wherever the pencil meets the eyebrow above the nose, it should be the starting point.
  • Finally, with the pencil still held against the nose, tilt it diagonally so that it rests against the far corner of the eye. That is the where outer point of the eyebrow should end.

Changing the Shape

To avoid tweezing into a shape you later would regret, first use a white eyeliner pencil to color in the areas under your eyebrows, which you think should be plucked.

If you do not like the shape, remove the white eyeliner and redraw. Once you are satisfied with the shape, tweeze the hairs in the white area.

In order to reduce the need for tweezing eyebrows, apply Kalo Hair Inhibitor Lotion with a cotton swab immediately after tweezing. This would significantly reduce the hair growth.
