Herbs for Hair Loss

There are different types of medication that can be used to cure different health problems. Today, hair loss is a problem many people tend to undergo in their lives. Though there are different types of treatments to be used to cure hair loss, you can also find many herbs for hair loss that tend to attack the problem directly, and curb hair loss.

It is better to use herbs for hair loss as they target the cause of the problem while supporting the natural healing mechanism of the body. However, this does not imply that these herbal hair loss remedies are miracle solutions for sufferers of hair loss. Ginkyo biloba is a popular herb used to improve the circulation of blood to the skin and brain. This increased blood flow to the brain helps in delivering necessary nutrients to the hair follicle. This in turn helps in promoting the regrowth of hair. It is better to take 120 to 160 mg of its dry extract, divided into three doses, everyday. Another of the herbs for hair loss is green tea. It is the catechins that are found in green tea that prevents the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase from converting the male hormone testosterone into DHT. DHT is the main cause of male type baldness; and by drinking several cups of green tea a day or taking it in capsule form, baldness can be controlled.

He Shou Wu, or Fo-Ti as it is popularly known, is a Chinese herb that has been useful in reducing hair loss for quite some time. It is found in the market in tea and capsule form. Pygeum is an herb that is derived from the bark of an evergreen and functions just like green tea. This is a herb that is used not only for treating male pattern baldness, but to also treat prostate problems. You have to take 60 - 500 mg of pygeum per day in pill or capsule form to experience its benefits.

Today, one of the herbs for hair loss that men prefer to use is Saw palmetto. Men prefer this herb to control hair loss as it is also useful in protecting the prostate and in encouraging hair regrowth. Saw palmetto is a herb that is used in many commercial hair treatments. However, if required, it can also be availed in its pure form. It is better to take a 160 mg capsule of saw palmetto twice a day. The extract that is availed from the berry extract, and not the dried berries is the better choice for your hair treatment. Stinging nettle is another herb for hair loss that is favored for the prevention of hair loss because of its ability of blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT. This is taken either in the pill or capsule form, where a maximum of 50 - 100 mg of it is permitted per day. You find better effects if you use it together with pygeum and saw palmetto.

These herbs may not guarantee your hair to grow back but it may prove to be as a ray of hope to your balding problem.
