Grapefruit skin toning lotion

Ingredients:

  • Grapefruit (ripe) - 100 gm
  • Yoghurt - 250 gm
  • Sodium benzoate - ½ teaspoon

Remove the skin of the grapefruit and cut it into small pieces. Put the pieces through the blender and then mix with yoghurt to make a paste. Refrigerate for 60 minutes and then add sodium benzoate, then smear over the face and neck. Leave it for 30 minutes until you feel your skin tightened. Then wash off with lukewarm water. It is effective for oily and sensitive skin.

Sunflower skin toning lotion

Ingredients:

  • Lanolin - 1 cup
  • Sunflower oil - 1 cup
  • Wheat germ oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Witch hazel extract - ½ cup
  • Sodium benzoate - 1 teaspoon

Melt lanolin in a pan over a low flame and stir in sunflower oil. Remove from the heat and stir in wheat germ oil and witch hazel with sodium benzoate. Bottle and refrigerate and then massage a little on the face and neck before going to bed. It is a good tonic for dry skin.

Egg toning lotion

Ingredients:

  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 teaspoon
  • Glycerine - 1 teaspoon
  • Egg white - 1 egg

Beat all the ingredients together till they become creamy. Apply it on the face and wait till it dries. Then wash it off.

Rosemary toning lotion

Ingredients:

  • Dried rosemary - 1 teaspoon
  • Dried thyme - 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf - one
  • White wine - 1 cup

Boil the herbs in white wine for 60 minutes. Cool it for another 60 minutes. Strain the liquid and refrigerate for about a week.

Use this toner daily before bedtime by soaking a cotton ball in it and gently wipe the face and neck. The alpha hydroxy oil in the wine promotes healthy cell growth. It can also be used in the morning before bath. Do not ever rub on dry or inflamed areas.

To lighten skin

Fuller’s earth lotion

Ingredients:

  • Fuller’s earth - 4 teaspoons
  • Egg white - 1 egg
  • Kaolin herbal clay powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Sandalwood powder - 1 teaspoon

Mix all the ingredients and make a paste with rose water. Apply it on the face, neck, arms, feet and legs once in a week.
