Applying Concealer Tips
Concealer is a type of makeup used to cover spots, pimples, blemishes and neutralize pigment irregularities. Providing more coverage than a foundation, concealer is perfect for camouflaging facial imperfections. It will neutralize and balance the look of a blemish mainly those dreaded under-eye circles. The right concealer can camouflage just about every imperfection and give you perfect skin. They are more opaque than normal makeup, but still need to be matched to the skin tone and are applied before using the harmony foundation. They are formulated that the subsequent application of makeup does not remove them.
Following are the steps to apply concealer:
- Take small amount of concealer on your fingertip and apply a dot of it under the eye, moving from outside corner of eye to the inner corner. Put a bit slightly below your dark circles and cover blemishes and other spots.
- Blend it very well, using your fingers in a tender back and forth dotting motion. Avoid pulling or rubbing the skin under the eye
- After applying it, just make sure by smiling in front of the mirror. It must not sneak into the little lines around your eyes. If it is so, blot softly with a tissue.
Applying liquid concealer: This comes in a tube, just compress a tiny amount of the product on your fingertip and apply it over the affected area.
Applying cream concealer: They are also available in a tube, with a sponge tipped applicator. Apply it using applicator, which gives an ordinary look.
Applying stick concealer: They are very easy to apply, simply apply it onto the skin. But try the samples before buying, as sometimes they may be heavy and with thick consistency.
Some makeup artists swear by concealer brushes, but you can get the best and most even coverage if you apply concealer with your fourth finger. The fourth finger exerts the least pressure, so it does not pull on delicate skin and its warmth blends better. The fourth finger is great for applying eye cream and eye shadow, as it gets into all the little nooks and crannies around your eyes.
Adding yellow eye shadow to concealer or foundation will cover dark circles. It will correct dark undertones while concealing. Green or blue eye shadow added to concealer or foundation will correct ruddy tones and out of order capillaries. Even the residue in the cap of your foundation serves as the perfect concealer. It is slightly dehydrated, making it just the right amount to conceal. And of course, it matches your foundation obviously.
Sometime it even helps to keep 2 or 3 shades of concealer on hand where you can always mix them with your fingertips before applying to get the best shade. Also, make sure your skin is moisturized, but not oily.
Concealers come in various forms like a squeezable tube or in a tube with a built-in brush-tipped wand applicator or an emollient-based, creamy, lightweight, discreetly opaque concealer or as a stick concealer which helps in direct on the spot application or a pencil-style concealer designed for instant, precise application.
