Eczema Treatment and Remedies

The term eczema refers to the reaction pattern in the skin which can be either acute or chronic and due to number of causes. In eczema, the skin becomes red, itchy, rash and causes blisters. The skin often crusts and scales. These symptoms may appear on any part of the body and at any stage of life, also in infants. Eczema occurs when the skin is excessively oily or dry.

Symptoms of eczema

  • Children with eczema usually develop itchy, dry, red skin and small bumps on their cheeks, forehead and scalp.
  • Irritation is observed from cosmetics, soaps, detergent etc.
  • The skin becomes dry and leathery after repeated syndrome.
  • Papules, vesicles and more rarely large blisters are seen.
  • Scaling.
  • Fissures and scratch marks.
  • Pigmentation.

Following diet is good for cures

  • Eating carrot and musk melon are good for eczema.
  • Raw vegetables, carrot and spinach juice are beneficial.
  • The patient can also apply coconut oil to the affected areas. This will keep the skin soft.
  • Make a paste of turmeric and neem leaves and apply the paste on affected areas.
  • Take the mixture of starch water that is obtained after cooking rice mixed with turmeric powder. Use this mixture to wash the eczema affected area. This also keeps the skin glowing.
  • The pulp of muskmelon is good remedy for treating eczema or eat the fruit daily.
  • Mix curd and Bengal gram flour or besan and apply it over the affected areas and then wash it off after 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Applying fresh mint juice is also good.
  • Fresh apricot leaves juice is also useful for eczema
  • Intake more fatty cold water fish such as salmon, sardines, mackerel, tuna, herring etc.
  • Intake more of oats as they have anti – inflammatory properties.
  • Take a tablespoon of corn oil in breakfast and in the evening meal. This is good for eczema treatment.

Home Made Remedies For Eczema

  • Add one tablespoon of turmeric powder to a tablespoon of bitter neem leaves. Make a paste by grinding it and apply.
  • Take the juice of green leaves of finger millet. Apply this on the affected area. This is a good remedy for treating chronic eczema.
  • Take a nutmeg. Rub it against a smooth stone slab with a little water. Make a paste and apply onto the affected areas.
  • Make a paste by mixing 1 tablespoon of fresh crushed neem leaf and a teaspoon of fresh turmeric powder and a spoonful of sesame seed oil. Apply it once a day.
  • Coconut oil makes the skin soft. It can be applied to the affected area of eczema.
  • Take mustard oil in a big vessel, boil it. Add neem leaves to it and then again boil it around for 10 minutes. Upon cooling of oil, Strain the leaves out of the mixture and store the oil in bottle. Apply this oil daily onto the affected areas.
  • Add 1 teaspoon camphor and 1 teaspoon sandalwood. Make a paste and apply it on the affected areas.
